Child safety standards

Beyond the Yard has no tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This page sets out what we prohibit, how to report it, and what we do when we are told. It applies to everything on the app: profiles, posts, comments, listings, rides, events and messages between riders.

What we do not allow

You may not use Beyond the Yard to create, hold, share, request or link to child sexual abuse material, or any content that sexualises a child. You may not use it to groom, solicit or arrange to meet a child for any sexual purpose, or to direct anyone to that material elsewhere.

There is no appeal and no second chance for this. An account used for it is closed, not warned.

The app is for adults

You must be 18 or over to use Beyond the Yard. It is built for adults, with no safeguarding design for young people, no guardian consent and no youth accounts, so we do not allow them rather than handling them badly.

We ask you to confirm your age and we cannot verify it. There is no date of birth, no age band and no check, only a tick box. We say so here rather than implying a gate that does not exist. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, tell us and we will close it.

How to report it

Every profile, post, comment, listing, ride, event and message in the app can be reported from the app itself. Open the item, choose to report it, and pick a reason. A moderator reviews it.

If you would rather not use the app, or the matter is urgent, email hello@beyondtheyard.app. That address is monitored and reaches a person.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also report directly to the National Crime Agency's CEOP command at ceop.police.uk, and abuse imagery to the Internet Watch Foundation at report.iwf.org.uk. You do not need to tell us first.

What we do when we are told

Reports of this kind are treated as the highest priority and are not queued behind anything else. When a report is upheld we remove the content, close the account behind it, and preserve what we hold so it can be handed to the authorities.

We report to law enforcement and to the relevant child protection authorities, including CEOP and the Internet Watch Foundation, and we comply with requests made to us under UK law. We do not require a court order to act on a credible report.
